Burlingame Community for Education (BCE)

The Burlingame Community for Education Foundation (BCE), is a non-profit foundation dedicated to enhancing the educational opportunities of the children of the Burlingame School District. Severe cuts in State funding, which began in the early 1970’s, and the passage of Proposition 13, have meant an ongoing shortfall in funds for our schools. Our community values its schools and its ability to provide the best education possible for its youth. BCE was incorporated in 1981 as a fund raising organization to help make up some of the deficit.

BCE is governed by a working, volunteer Board of Directors with representatives from the community including parents, teachers, administrators and members of Burlingame businesses. The Board coordinates fund raising events and the annual Direct Mail campaign. The allocation of the funds raised is based on input from administrators, teachers and the superintendent and is approved by the elected School Board of Trustees.

BCE is all of you who give your time and money to make our schools the best. There are volunteer opportunities available as a board member, school representative, or as a member of an event committee. Without an ongoing team of volunteers we cannot repeatedly produce fund raising events. If everyone gives generously to the Direct Mail campaign we can meet our goals with fewer events and fewer volunteers.
