Principal's Page

Hello Bulldogs! I am so excited to be here with you.

As an introduction, I am in my 26th year as an educator. I started in San Mateo as a middle school teacher in the same district she grew up in. After taking on every extra role at Borel, I was ready for the transition to administration.

I spent eleven years as assistant principal of middle schools and then began my principalships in elementary schools. I moved back to the Peninsula a couple years ago and spent some time off with my son, Cayden, where I experienced life as a new parent at a school. This had a huge impact on me, in how I believe schools should welcome families. While taking “time off” I was on School Site Council and was a substitute teacher. I have worked with students TK through eighth grades.

In 2019, I returned back to work as an assistant principal in Hayward. I was just six months in when the pandemic hit. I worked to bring together our staff and community. Whether holding Zoom town halls, creating/editing/posting weekly videos, virtual candlelight vigils or organizing games for staff to keep morale up, I focused on community throughout.

I completed my undergraduate studies at San Diego State University, and then received my multiple-subject teaching credential at California State University, Northridge. I followed with my Masters Degree and Administrative credential from San Francisco State.

My focus is, and has always been, on students. I am so happy to be here at McKinley, and look forward to getting to know each and every one of you!
