Volunteer at McKinley

Welcome to the McKinley community!  Here at McKinley, we have several school-wide activities and social events throughout the year to support our children's education, the school, and our community.  To make these events successful, we need help from our valuable parents and families!
Volunteering can mean many things such as giving your time, assisting with specific event elements or purchasing goods for sale.  Our major annual fundraiser, the Harvest Festival takes the entire McKinley community to make it a success. The entire Burlingame community looks forward to this spooktacular event each year!

McKinley Elementary School Volunteer opportunities include but are not limited to:

McKinley Community Events

Harvest Festival - McKinley's annual school fundraiser, held the 3rd weekend of October

• Book Fairs - Fall, Spring, and a Spanish fair

• Multi-Cultural Night - An evening in the Spring to celebrate the various cultures of our community

• Founder's Day Luncheon - A luncheon in March to celebrate the current and past McKinley community and their service and commitment to the McKinley school

• Walk-a-thon - A Spring fundraiser for the students to raise money for McKinley

• Mother/Son Bowling - Typically a Spring event for son and mother or special person

• Father/Daughter Dance - A Spring event for daughter and father or special person

 

McKinley School Events:

• Teacher Appreciation Week - In Spring, provide lunch, treats and other ways to celebrate the teachers and staff

• Hot Chocolate & PJ Day - In December, before school provide hot chocolate to students

• Ability Awareness Week - A week for students to experience learning differences

• Spelling Bee - Help coordinate and facilitate the English and Spanish Spelling Bees

• Parent Education - Help coordinate opportunities for our parent community to learn about various topics

 

McKinley School Activities:

• Library - During lunch recess, assist the librarian to shelve books and check out books to the children

• Yard Duty - During lunch recess, help staff manage the play yard

• Garden Club - During lunch recess, assist the children with various garden activities outlined by the Garden PTA Chairs  Contact: mckinleyBUGS@gmail.com

McKinley BCE (Burlingame Community Education) site committee: Help McKinley do it's part to provide the support needed to make our public school great. Commitment can vary from during and after school hours to assisting from home. Some activities include: Site Team (year round help), BCE room liaison, Pledge Day, Read-a-thon, Dinner Dance & Auction, Phone Banks

Dad's Club:  The Dad's Club organizes movie nights and often staffs the food booths at various events.  The club also provides "heavy lifting" for events such as the Harvest Festival.  It is a great opportunity for the dads in the McKinley community to connect… and have a little fun!
